I have been thinking about ways to remain active and “in shape” now that I have an aging body. I can’t run as fast or as far, can’t (some days at least) do the yoga positions I see in my mind. How do I remain optimistic around “loss’ of this magnitude?
Some of my discoveries:
– take classes; amazing how being around other people ( not necessarily of your generation– older and younger adds to the zest) encourages best efforts and helps overlook twinges
– find talented instructors; the ones that seem committed to having you master whatever it is you’re doing. They help me ( and maybe you) want to do my best
–do something daily, even if its only a brisk walk. Gotta get that mindset including paying loving attention to the old corpus.
These three have helped me stay away from favoring the “good” side of my body (right) and putting extra effort and stretching of my left side. And have me thinking about, studying, how to stretch further and deeper given my limits ( the real yoga challenge for me.)
Love to hear anybody else’s thoughts. Alan
